The search is on for the best-skilled, fastest, and cleanest pencil artist of the year! PeterFleming Art Gallery invites you to compete in the ultimate pencil drawing challenge, where your talent, your precision, and your speed will make you our champion.

COMPETITION FORMAT

This competition will take place both physically at PeterFleming Art Gallery and online.

  • Physical Participants: Draw live at the gallery.
  • Online Participants: Monitored in a short live as they create their work.

COMPETITION DATE & DRAWING DURATION

  • Start Date: April 14, 2025
  • End Date: April 16, 2025
  • Drawing Time: 9 AM – 4 PM daily
  • Winners Announced: April 18, 2025

SUBMISSION GUIDELINE

This competition will take place both physically at PeterFleming Art Gallery and online.

  • Medium: Pencil (graphite, charcoal, or colored pencils allowed)
  • Physical participants must submit their artworks in person at the gallery
  • Online participants must ship their artworks to the gallery immediately after the contest ends for judging.

JUDGING CRITERIA

Artists will be judged by Gallery officials and pencil drawing professionals on:

  • Drawing Skill – Mastery of the medium and artistic execution
  • Speed – Ability to create a high-quality drawing within the given time
  • Neatness – Clean, professional presentation of the artwork

ENTRY FEE

  • Standard Entry Fee: ₦15,000
  • Early Bird Discount: Register between March 13 – 23 and pay just ₦10,000!

PRIZES

The winner and runner-ups will earn:

  • Winner: ₦300k Cash, Award and Gallery / Media Recognition.
  • First Runner: Art materials, Award, and Gallery/Media recognition.
  • Second Runner up: Award, Gallery/Media Recognition.

All participants: gets a certificate of participation; an addition to your artist portfolio. its a WIN WIN situation!
